Keepsake Community Project

During 2011 a group of young people from Woolavington participated in a community project involving young people from villages surrounding Bridgwater. WRAP, in partnership with Somerset Arts Project worked through the Summer and into Autumn with the youngsters to create a huge map of Bridgwater and mark their own community on the map. They then made a box and created a "keepsake", a facsimile of an item from their life/community and put this item with a written description into the box and fixed it to where they live on the map. Participants used a combination of fine art, applique and photography in this project. The completed piece was exhibited at Bridgwater Town library during September & October and later at The Victoria Park Centre.

There are scores of projects like this which WRAP would love to help children & young people from Woolavington to get involved in. We are only able to participate in a fraction of projects on offer due to lack of adult volunteers. Please consider helping us to help more children & young people and to make Woolavington an even better place in which to live.
