The District Council will shortly be carrying out some maintenance work in the Churchyard and also planting trees and a new hedge along the new boundaries in the Cemetery. The majority of the new trees will be varities of historic Somerset apples such as Morgan Sweet. This will help to preserve some of these old traditional varieties and also replace some apple trees lost in this area.

A field maple will be planted in a prominent position in memory of Roger Lavers, our District Councillor and Parish Council Chairman who sadly passed away last year. The District Council will supply and plant the tree and the Parish Council will supply a commemorative plaque.

The thistles growing in the Cemetery extension will be cut as soon as ground conditions allow and some reseeding will take place next year, if necessary.

The most noticeable maintenance work will be the pollarding of the lime tree in the north -eastern corner of the Churchyard. Although seemingly drastic the work will actually prolong the life of the tree and it will prevent branches overhanging and causing nuisance to the neighbouring property. The photograph shows the lime tree in question.
